Course Overview

This course is a hands-on, creative class where students explore rhythm, music production, and musical traditions from around the world. No prior musical experience is necessary—just a willingness to participate, experiment, and try new things!

Throughout the year, you’ll develop essential music skills through bucket drumming, body percussion, rhythm reading, and digital music creation using Soundtrap. We will study musical form, time signatures, world music traditions, jazz, and the creative process behind music production. You’ll learn to listen critically, collaborate respectfully, perform with accuracy and expression, and make creative decisions as both a musician and a producer.

What You’ll Experience

• Bucket Drumming & Body Percussion: Learn rhythm through energetic, interactive drumming and movement activities
• Digital Music Creation: Compose original music, create remixes, and explore soundscapes using Soundtrap technology
• Musical Exploration: Discover diverse musical styles including Afro-Cuban music, reggaeton, jazz, and world beats
• Creative Projects: Design your own compositions, soundscapes, and rhythm patterns throughout the year
